I just changed the oil in the transfer case. Boy was it ugly looking! I don't care what DC says about the color I don't want it to look like that. I had just over 19K on the clock. It's too easy not to do on a regular basis. I refilled with Amsoil ATF. Took almost exactly 2. 5 quarts.

On a side note, I also changed the fuel filter. It was completely black. The filter had 11K on it.

I read this post and thought I better get off my but and change the transfer case oil since I had just changed the axel oil on the 05. The transfer case oil with 11K on it came out like new I could not even tell the difference between the oil in the bottle from the stuff in the T-case. The axel oil was like brand new as well . I have used the truck in four wheel drive many times here in the desert So west too. I'll be going 30K on all drivetrains fluids without a doubt!!!!!!!.

I don't know why some of the members oil are so contaminated :( . Since the oil looked so good I refilled it with the Mopar ATF+4.

Mac

I didn't do the transmission, X-fer or rear ends until 60K or so, everything looked peachy to me. I just wish there was an easier way to do the X-fer, that skid plate needs a hole torched in it or something :-laf

macdaddy,

The differences could be that we have much higher temperature differences in a day here than in other places around the country. Temps could swing as much as 50 degrees in a day here. Like today it was 63 for a high, but we actually had snow in the area last night. Usually it's in the 90's this time of year. Next week it will probably be in the 90's again.

Well, that's my story and I'm sticking to it! ;)

Yep snow!!! I'll backup your story Mark and I will take the responsibility for it. I just brought home our new toy hauler. If that won't make it snow I don't know what will. :-laf
