Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) Transfer Case Oil

Is the synthetic supposed to stay thin in the cold or does it thicken up like regualr motor oil

it doesn't get thicker or thinner, it just flows a heck of alot better and protects and coats superior compared to a dino oil.

My understanding is anything thicker than ATF, like motor oil, will cause the oil pump in the transfer case to work harder than normal, especially when cold, and lead to a premature failure.

I see absolutely no reason why anyone would want to run anything but ATF in the transfer case

exactly!!!! would you put atf in your engine. NO!!!
