I have a very slight leak at the back of the transfer case where the drive shaft exits. I want to check the fluid level but I don't have the correct size Torx bit. Does anyone know the correct size? Is it a dealer only tool?
My Dad has a '97 2500 V8 with allen head drain and fill plugs but mine has Torx head plugs. Just for fun, I tried the allen head sockets I have and none of them will fit.
Yep. I don't know about the heavy duty version of the transfer case, but that's the way it is on mine. It's probably some metric size, but that socket works.
I just wraped the jaws of the curved jaw vise grips around the outside perimeter of the plug, clamped it real good and heaved. It came out and there are a few nicks around the outside of the plug, who cares, I don't.
