Transfer Case ?'s

I just finished pulling my transfer case out to repair the dreaded 5th gear nut problem and noticed there was a small leak where the cases split. Can I pull the two cases apart and put a new seal in there with out gears falling everywhere? Anyone have any tips? Thanks.

Yea, you can pull them apart,but the one I did did't have a seal persay,just silicon.
