2010 2500 RAM CTC, long bed, FWD, Automatic.

I switched my dash electronic transfer knob to 4 WD low. When I switch back to 2 high, the 4 low light blinks and the transfer case remains in 4 low. I tried shutting off the truck, Placing transmission in park, shifting into 4 high and none of these will shift it out of 4 low. Had to drive home a short distance in 4 low. If I place the know in any other position the 4 low light blinks. Now it is in the garage waiting some instructions.

Anybody have similar experience, what is a possible solution?

TIA,

Dean

Owners manual

Check your owners manual, to be sure your following the procedure. I believe that the truck is supposed to be be creeping along when shifting. Ken Irwin

Slowly go down the road (5 mph). Place the transfer switch to 4 Hi, then shift transmission into neutral and coast. It will then go into 4 Hi. Things have to sync nicely before it shifts. Once it is in 4 Hi, then go to 2 WD. A little frustrating but works every time.

My 06 has to go through the same process. In fact, even my 2010 Jeep with a manual t-case is very similar in process. If there is any binding in the drivetrain it is very hard to shift out of 4 lo. I know that I would break something if I just pulled as hard as I could when it is bound up so I believe it is a safety feature so nothing gets broken. I know that Wranglers have very small differences in the front and rear diffs (4. 11 and 4. 10 for example in the Rubicon) so that there will be a point where everything lines up for a smooth and effortless shift. That is also why they don't recommend driving in 4 wd on pavement. Even in a straight line you will bind up and twist something. I've always wondered if our diffs were set up that way in the truck.
