I have one being shipped right now and the shipping weight is 100 lbs.

I would guess the weight is near 90 lbs or so. I took mine out the other day with the help of a friend and a floor jack, piece of cake. I would use a floor jack to pull it out if possible and have someone help support it on the jack. Best choice would be a transmission jack with safety chains :)

Hope this helps!

Thanks for the info. I am pulling the ol' 5 gear very soon and installing the SBC and the NV5600. I think I will just go ahead and drain the transfer and NV4500 before I remove them. I couldn't find a rental trans jack anywhere in this town, so it is off to Harbor Freight to get a BIG one. I was quoted the cost of having this beast installed was $900, with driveline mods included (about $250 of the total). $650 sure seems like a lit of $$ to R&R a trans/clutch when I have ALL the parts including the oil...

Well, it ain't cheap. I have a perfectaly good NV4500 that has never lost it's nut and it only has 75k miles. But most of the time it is pulling my TT and ATV's over its GCVWR. After bombing the stock clutch was way too east to slip under full load. I needed a SBC con-ofe and I really wanted a 6th gear, so I saved all my OT and splurged... Bottom line...

Trans swap kit from Dans 4x4 in Montana (brand new) $4500

Driveline work (shorten/lenghten) $225

Buying a trans jack (couldn't beg or borrow one) $350

About $5k but I should be able to sell a perfectaly good NV4500 for about $800 and that will bring it back down to $4. 2k to $4. 3k. It is a lot of cash but she is paid off and I love the truck.
