transfer case

I have 2005 CTD 6 speed. How do you put the transfer case in neutral?

If you have the manual transfer case (lever on the floor), Neutral is one slot forward (the pattern is <fwd to rear> 4Lo - N - 2Hi - 4 Hi) Someone will chime in if it changed from '04. If it's the electric shift, I think there is a position for neutral. I have an SLT so I have th manual t-case.



I'd suggest adding to your signature all the important information about your truck so we can help you better. Go to user control panel, and select "edit signature"

I have the electric transfer case and the only settings are 2W, 4Hi, 4Lo. Maybe I am just tired from working all weekend but there is no setting for neutral, only a light that is supposed to come on. Do I have to push the switch in or some other procedure?

look closely at the small "N" indicator and you'll see a small button which requires a pen or pencil tip to press. If I remember correctly, you put your transmission in neutral, then depress and hold the button until the "N" indicator begins to flash. For further help, reference your owners manual and it gives step by step directions. Hope that helps
