problem is why does the transfer case grinds or transmission grinds taking it out of 4wd low ??????? when i use 4wd high 2wd and neutral it all shifts fine and shifts back fine ,, but when you put it in 4wd low i have to shut the truck off in nertal to get it out of 4wd low ????? don't have an owners guide to look at so any help would be good ,,, "just had a new transmission put in ,but it did this before the transmission to?????? " all changing of the transfer case is done in neutral on the gear selector

so do i need to keep the truck moving to take it out of 4wd low ,,, or do i just have to shut the truck off and pull it out of 4wd low evey time i use it ???? thanks tony

Mine does the same thing, when I shift into 4hi the transmission needs to be in gear, for 4lo, well... ... takes some finess but, it'll go in & out (in nuetral. ) Maybe you need to adjust the linkage. There is a set-screw on the linkage rod that allows the rod to move for deeper, or shallower engagement, but be careful you can really screw up how it goes into 4 hi by doing this, dont ask me how I know.

Have someone get into the truck and shift back and forth while you are watching from underneath how the linkage reacts, it might be something simple! Oh and dont forget to chock the tires both directions b-4 doing this! :D

If you have been wheelin hard in low range you may have to back up and unload the drivetrain a bit and slide it it out "briskly" while at a slow roll.

i'll try that roll to see if it works ,,but never went 4 wheeling in the truck ever just used the 4wd on an off about once a month just to make sure it still works ... ... thanks for the help
