The interval has a lot to do with your power level and how hard you work the truck. I do mine every 15k or less. Most are fine at 30k. It holds approximately 3 qts. there is a hex drain plug and fill plug on the back side. If you have the skid plate it helps to remove it first.

I service my Tcase at the same interval as the transmission which for me would be somewhere around 30K. I don't remember the capacity, but it's in your owner's manual. Just remove the bottom plug on the rear of the Tcase to drain it. Then put that plug back and remove the top on. I think they are 10mm hex. Fill to overflow on level ground. If you have a leveling kit, you may want to top it off with the back raised slightly to help you get the factory fill line. I like to use a suction gun to install the WalMart DexIII that I use in mine.

ATF+4 has better specs than Dexron and is the recommended fill ;)

ATF+4 is much better than Dex III. However, my '01 owner's manual calls for Dex III or better. For me, the main selling point of Dex III is that I keep it around the house for use in other vehicles. I don't have anything that needs ATF+4.

Dex III is a thing of the past. The licensing of Dex III has been pulled by GM. Dex VI is now the latest Spec. from GM.

Just remove the bottom plug on the rear of the Tcase to drain it. Then put that plug back and remove the top one.

Here's a tip I learned the hard way once. Remove (or at least loosen) the top plug first just to make sure it'll come out before you take out the bottom one. That way you won't be stuck with an empty t-case and an undriveable truck.
