So the t-case in my '02 is auto-shifting. It is an NP-241, with a lever, so it is a bit bizzare. It happens mostly at 70+, but it has also happened down shifting for a stop (in 2nd) and also when the transmission was out of gear (coasting on an off-ramp). I was holding onto the lever tonight as I was driving, and it tries going from 2HI to neutral. Sometimes it pops back into 2HI, sometimes it doesn't.

Any ideas?

Could be the shift fork pads are worn. The grooves they ride in could also be sloppy. This can be caused by low oil level. Have you maintained a proper lube level at all times?
