truck pop up

I'm thinking of installing a larger capacity fuel tank in my truck. The stock tank just doesn't have the capacity for the range I want when towing. I would like to get any opinions that you folks might have on the replacement tanks that Transfer-Flow makes. Do they mount and install nicely without modification to the truck? Are there any new clearance issues with it installed? How does the fuel gauge react to the added capacity? Any comments good or bad would be appreciated.

Thanks!

I just installed a 54 transflo. Very high quality, very complete and excellent instructions.

I did alot of extra stuff(made my own fuel tank module with 1/2" line, stainless foot filter, hydraulic fittings, etc. ) and installed an aftermarket sending unit. My gauge works well, and judging by the quality of the kit I would say that your gauge would work as well as it can with the factory module.

Transferflow are the best

They are the best. I had a tank once installed by them on my 96 GMC Z71 and it was great.

There are cheaper alternatives, but dollar for dollar, they have the best product if moneys not an issue.

I just installed a 98 gallon aux tank on my CTD and the total was approx. 700$. I installed and hooked it up myself. Works good.

. 44 mag, where do you live in CV?? I just moved from Oakley,Ca down here. Was a Alameda Co Deputy years ago. 96th academy

98 Gallon transfer flow

Check out my thread "Axle weights with 98 gallon Transfer-Flow" has some pictures. Cost was around $1400. I installed it. You need a 1. 25" hole saw and I recommend doing the fuel tank vent bomb while installing the Transfer- Flow. If you get the Trans-Fax fuel system it corrects the dash gauge to read total fuel on board. First rate system in my book. Ken Irwin

I have had my 74 gal Trans-Flow for going on 5 years now. The only problems I ever had were caused by the installer and were corrected. I am sure the tank has paid for itself by now. It allows me to take advantage of lower prices, at times as much as . 50 per gallon, and I am able to avoid fueling at stations that likely have stale fuel. The increased range is a must here in the north and the added peace of mind is a big plus. I am considering added another Trans-Flow tank to further extend my range. I would like to be able to get through Canada without having to buy their fuel. As far as I am concerned, I wouldn't leave home without one.

snapshot, I am awaiting my 70 gal Trans-Flow in bed tank should arrive end of new week. I am doing the install myself Iwould like to know what the problem was caused by the installer as I want to make sure I do a clean install the first time. I don't anticipate any problems but would like a heads up on any potential thing to look for.

Thanks, Bill

The problem was caused by an unskilled installer. The mounting plate for the fuel gauge and hoses on the top of the tank is installed with self tapping (furnished) metal screws. He desided that the instructions were wrong and ended up positioning it wrong rendering the float inoperable. He then compounded the problem by over-tightening the mounting screws, stripping three in the process. After filling the tank I noted that the gauge was not reading properly and thought the wiring might be done wrong. I parked my truck on a hill by my home and in the morning discovered I had lost a considerable amount of fuel due to leaking around the mounting plate. I took it back to the installer and came close to losing the cover in the process because the diesel had attacked the glue causing it to fly off while traveling. Luckily I saw it go in my mirror so was able to retrieve it unharmed (it landed on grass). That, by the way, is my one criticism of the tank. I think the "glued on" cover is a bad idea. Still, If I were to buy another CTD, I would install another Trans-Flow tank. I think, however, next time I would install it myself. I am sure I could do a better job than the idiot that installed mine.

Good luck!

56 Gal Transferflow

Easy installation with a floor jack. Great construction and quality. Fit like a glove. LOVE IT!. Downside-- Now I have a 35 gal tank to get rid of.
