It took almost 3 weeks for them to reply but they said a replacement tank for third gens will be available by the end of august. The reply didn't say how large though.

For the marginal gallons increased over a stock tank, it's hard to justify the extra $$$. $$ that most of those tanks cost... ..... I only hope the replacement tanks fill up easier and quicker than the OE tanks on the 3rd Generation trucks !

Read the thread about solving the slow fuel fill up times. With a few parts from the hardware store you can make your stock tank hold 42 gallons, and fill up fast. For an extra 18 gallons I would be hard pressed to pay out somewhere in the neighborhood of $800 or more.

Until I read about this cheap fix I would have bought the Transfer flow tank.

I assume this 42 gallon number is for the long bed. I wonder about the effective capacity of the short bed tank. Factory listed capacities are 36 (long), 34 (short). Wonder if that means my short bed tank will hold 40? I've got David Kelly's vent kit and intend to install it as soon I can get my tank level low enough. I too was considering a transfer flow tank.

say has any one tried the aux tank that replaces the spare tire? if so is it worth the cash, and what do you do with the spare.

What is the transfer flow tank made from? There is a company supertanks, www.supertanks.com that is coming out with a larger tank for the Dodge HDs, they emailed me it would be ready sometime in July. The GM guys that have installed them seem pretty happy with them, I would much rather have a tank made from the same stuff the factory uses so you never have to worry about corrosion and less chance of a rupture in an accident.

TF tank capacities

Transfer Flows' replacement tank is slated to be 54 gallons. Price is abhorent for 19 gallons extra fuel. I talked with SuperTanks (Idaho), today in fact, they have 2 beta test units on the road right now. They are trying for 55 gallons on the shortbeds, and 70 gallons on the long bed trucks, not sure yet what they will end up with. The GOOD NEWS, is the tanks will retail for around $825 + shipping. I gonna wait, as this is about 1/2 price of Aerotanks, and less than that of transferFlow...

SUPERTANKS

Supertanks.com or 1-800-728-4982 Have no idea why they didn't start with the DODGE application FIRST, but they didn't. Start callin' these people and maybe they'll get with the program for our trucks. Of note, they also told me the wall thickness on their tanks was to be near 1/8th inch thick! Tanks are POLYETHELENE and set in a metal tub. Start callin'!

Looked at their website. It's mainly tailored toward Chebby and Freds. Looks like Dodge is an afterthought to them. When the Dodge tank is out, I hope it's also available for 2wd.

Someone who calls them make sure to ask if they addressing the foamy fill up issue! If this tank fixes that and adds capacity, it would be a nice upgrade.

It's pretty much been decided that the slow/foamy fillup is caused by poor or no venting in the rear top hump of the tank. Spool-up's vent kit cures that problem. I'd guess a replacement tank would be better vented than the OEM tank.

SUPERTANK UPDATE

The Supertanks.com website has a "waiting list" on it for the Dodge trucks. Anyone interested in upsizing their fuel tank might want to sign on to the list, if for no other reason than to hot up the mfg process. Oo.
