I'm considering a Transfer Flow in bed tank with the Trax-II control unit, which must interface with truck computer to monitor tank level. Given DC's propensity to make addons a warranty buster, has anyone been given grief over a Transfer Flow Tank?

I'm concerned about voiding the electrical and powertrain warranty because of the Trax-II and voiding the paint and rust through warranty because of the need to mount the tank and pass through the bed to the tank filler vent.

From the sounds of it, it all depends on the dealer these days. I know only DC can void a warranty, and if the dealer denies you, you’ll probably have a fight to look forward to. I've had mine in and they (the dealer I deal with) have no issues with it. Now if the system were to flame out on me and was an obvious cause of an issue, the as we all should know, I AM MY OWN WARRANTY STATION. But if you install it yourself, treat and holes you cut/drill into your rig, cover all you electrical connections and I don’t foresee any problems. The TransferFlow system I have is IMO extremely well designed. I would not hesitate to purchase another one.

With careful installation, the Transfer Flow will give no problems at all. As above, pick a reasonable dealer. I have never heard of a problem with the truck or its warranty from their systems.

Hi,

I have had a 70 gal. Transfer tank in the back of our 2004 Ram Diesel long bed for several months and haven't had a problem with warranty work being done at our local dealer. I really like the idea of having extra fuel on board when hooked up to our 5th wheel and head South of a month or so. With the current fuel prices it pays to shop around, even a few cents off helps. On our trip to AZ. I averaged 13. 6 MPG, that is by the overhead.

All my trucks have tanks in the bed that we built in house... . each is about 110 gal and we come out of the back of the tank through the hole in the front of the bed... and down. . through a big filter..... through a 1/2 lb back check valve, through a Holly Red electric pump into a fitting we silver soldered into the neck of the filler tube.....

In the cab we have a switch..... which turns on the pump for 15 min..... we have no alterations to the trucks electrial or fuel system execpt for the tie in at the filler tube... .

Cost to build the tank with the special cap... under 100, filter assy and pump another 100... our 04 has 110 K miles with this set up... and we change the under hood filter 2x's a year..... The big filter mentioned above, once a year... ...

Just my 2 cents worth on how we did it.....

If you are that freeked out about your warranty, drop your truck off at Chuck Patterson Dodge in Chico and they will deliver and pick your truck up from Transfer Flo. They are about 5 miles away. Im sure that you would get the same deal if you bought through the dealer and then you would have the install on a Dodge DC invoice. .
