I own a 2001 Ram 2500 4x4 QC with 128,000 miles. Thursday night I shut the truck off to fuel up and it would not start again. Had it towed to the nearest Cummins shop. They told me the transfer pump went out causing the injector pump to fail as well (a common problem I'm told). Said they would be able to fix it to the tune of $2500. So my question is, is this something I can replace myself with common tools and save some money on labor? If so, is there a good write up somewhere on the steps involved in doing this? If not, is that price about the going rate for this work? Any info would be appreciated.
