Heard alot about longtivity of the carter pump, whats funny ive seen some guys go over 250k miles on one with no problems with vp44 or transfer pump and others just go a month on the carter and 30k miles on the vp44 , for me I bought my 2k dodge in 03 with 120k miles on it and the carter was putting out 15psi at idle and 12 at wot then and over 150k miles later it now puts around 10-12 at idle and 8pst at wot so I know its slowly going out, whats funny my vp 44 went dead at 168k miles but as you see im still running the same carter pump today with a NEW bosche vp44 that I found at a lost salvage store for cheap!! anyway ive talked to a dodge diesel mech that works at the dodge dealership and he says he hasnt had any problems with the intank pump system yet or vps coming back afterwards so far so whats the % rate of pump failure with the new intank pump? like I say mine wasnt cos of transfer pump failure psi since im still runing the same carter!
