Transfer Pump

My 03 with 96k miles has a strange noise coming from the engine compartment and thought it might be the fuel transfer pump. What are the symptoms of a failing fuel transfer pump?

The failing transfer pump symptom is your engine dies. That's pretty much your only clue unless you have a gauge and it'll read abnormally low. That's about it. There really are no noises.

the 03 has a vac. pump by the pass. side fire wall that makes noise on start up at times or if there is a vacuum leak in any of the lines feeding the crurse control sys.
