Did a search came up with nothing.

buddies

02 ho 6spd 4x4, just at 68,000 miles, transfercase pops out of 2h to neutral with a loud pop each time, has done it both going forward and in reverse.

All started just after a small noise (kind of rumble) just on the accel then backing off the accel, then figured the transfercase was slowly shifting out of gear after it just finally popped.

What is causing it? i heard worn shift fork. Costs of parts?

Damn local shop wants $800+ to rebuild just the parts doing it if he brings just the case in. I am thinking that is WAY to much.

looking to do it ourselves.

Any good diagrams online, etc. . ? he doesnt have a manual right now, dont know why.

my grandfather has a '93 dodge half ton that had the same problem. and like you he was ****** because he had to have it rebuilt and it cost him around $800. good luck!

I had mine done last April, it cost me $600 but no internal problems except the input shaft. I do think they make some easy money rebuilding transfer cases. There is not much to them compared to a 5 speed transmission.

My buddy's Ferd T-Case kept popping into neutral last fall. It was acting EXACTLY like you describe yours is. It was a worn shift fork. It looked like the T-case had been cycled a million times to wear the shift fork like that.

The repair was quick, cheap & easy.

Get a Dodge Service manual. You might not even need it. Once you split the case, it's simple to see how everything comes apart. Almost impossible to mess it up.
