Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) Transfere Case Swap

I notice some of the 2500 rams use a 241dhd transfere case and mine has a 241dld, how hard is it to swap the light duty out for the heavy duty? How much does it cost for parts to do the swap?

I think, but wouldn't swear, you needed to order the snowplow package to get the DHD. The best place to get a 241DHD that i found was www.transfercaseexpress.com Look them up, they have good prices on new parts. Good luck

The HD's were more plentiful on the early 2nd gen trucks. 1 tons may also be a good source. It's easiest if you get the one that matched the trans you have (auto or manual).



I'm not sure which parts don't fit. The big difference between the two is that the HD has a wider chain and gears for the front output shaft.
