Transferflo vs. Aero Tanks

Anyone have either tank? Just wondering what you guys who have them think and why you chose the one you did. Why is one half the price of the other? Thanx in advance.

Transferflow here, I'm waiting on mine Oo. Should be in late this week or early next. I ordered the 50 gallon tank/toolbox. I did alot of reading on here, have a friend at work with the 98 gallon and I believe you get what you pay for (within reason). Although I've yet to get this tank, I can say customer service has been excellent. First tank arrived damaged :{ so back it went. They have been very good about getting another on its way and keeping me info'd as to whats going on (ship date, tracking #, returning phone calls) Aside from the damage (shipping companies problem, not Transferflow), I'm happy with them. Now I can't wait to get it, install it and load it up Road trip to Florida in April Do a search on this, you'll have good reading...

Transferflow Tanks in school project Dodge Ram

My students and I installed both, a Transferflow mid-ship 54 replacement tank and a 50 gallon tool box/ fuel tank unit in our Shop class project 01 Dodge Ram Longbed truck with no problems. Everything fit perfectly, instructions were well spelled out. My students did most of the work with me helping them when they needed it. We have also installed Transferflow tanks in a 2001 GMC with the 6. 6 Dura-Max and an 02 Ford E-350 with the 7. 3 Powerstroke. All of these Transferflow tanks went in without any problems and everything worked to perfection. Transferflow does not sell junk! They are a top quality company with top quality fuel tank systems !



I would not hesitate to purchase and install their fuel tanks on any vehicle in the future. Hope this helps you decide.

I don't have either, but from what I've read on here, Transfer flow is the way to go. Never heard a single bad thing about them. I've heard a few bad things about Aerotanks as far as leaks and bad customer service.

I got a 100 gallon tank/toolbox combo from American Tank in Frisco, TX. 20,000 miles and the only problem has been a sending unit that only works when it wants to. He wants me to send it back to him for repair/replacement but I can't afford to not have my tank working for a week (the sending unit is on the fuel pump assembly.



They're just a small family business.

Both of my tanks a 50 gal across-the-bed and the 98 gal across-the-bed have been flawless. My 98gal I have had for 8yrs. The 50 gal we have had for 5yrs and no problems either.

Sorry, I should have been clearer. I'm asking about the mid-ship replacement tanks. Kind of interesting that no one is weighing in on the Aero Tank.....

I don't have either yet, but I am planning on a 56 Gal transferflow midship this year. From what I have been reading over the past two years on this topic. it seems that Transferflow is the way to go hands down. More expensive yes, but no headaches either. I remember some serious issues that some have had with the Aerotanks.

I installed Transfer Flow 50-gal across the bed tank last week. I'm very well impressed with the quality and completeness of their kit. It's a complete system. The has everything, down to the last washer, wire tie, and gasket sealing compound. The instructions are first-rate. I was tickled to see that they use RAM Mount hardware for mounting the control module (TRAX-II). That makes the 3rd RAM Mount in my cab The tank system works just like it's supposed to.

I should have made myself clearer, sorry. First tank was on my 98. 5 2500 for 4 years, then traded to an '03 3500. both were long beds. Don

I have the tranferflow. Replacement. I had it install. I think it went fine. They did not say it was trouble. I am very happy with the tank. It has doubled my range. My only complain is the fuel gauge. it use my factory gauge. It will read 1/4 I will fill it and only get 37 gal (it is a 54-56 gal). The most I have ever put in it is 47 gal. That time my fuel gauge read MT, My fuel light had been on for 100 mi, my Comp read o mi to MT. I do not like all three gauges screamiing at me. I normally run it till the fuel light comes on. then it will tke 35-40 gal. Before the tank it would do the same and I would add 21-23 gal. I have had the tank for about 15K.

Sounds like you tank module is not working correctly. You'd have to drop the tank, remove the tank module, and bend the fuel float arm to fix it. That'd drive me nuts having all that capacity and my gauges telling me I'm out. No reliable way to tell when to refill!

One of the advantages of an auxilliary tank is that it comes with the TRAX-II monitor. It displays, in gallons - main tank, aux tank, total, and system status. The transfer between aux and main is automatic. My senders are accurate to within 2 gallons. The OEM fuel gauge reads total amount. So a full main and empty aux shows a little over 1/3. Low fuel warning light comes on at 22 gallons remaining (stock was about 10) - about 1/8th on the gauge, same as before.



I don't need to fill my aux. tank on a normal basis, and I don't want to carry the weight if I don't have to. Besides, I track my fuel mileage religiously, so I have to pick one method and be consistent. That means just filling the main tank normally. Hopefully that works out, I can't stand to see an orange warning light

I have the Transfer Flow 56 gallon replacement tank, and the 74 gallon "wedge" cross-the-bed tank in my 2004 My 97 had the 54 gallon replacement and 98 gallon cross bed Transfer Flows. Very happy with them.

Transfer Flow does not make a 50 gallon replacement tank ( OEM replacement ) for a 1995 regular cab 2wd. Are there any skid plates available ? Thinking new fuel sending unit while the tank is off, for an additional $100.
