Anything to do in Texas?

Lance Camper

When "dry" camping we produce a lot more gray than black water, at fairgounds and such you can't dump anything... . we show dogs.

It seems to me if you do things right you can transfer some of the gray water to the black water tank... . the only drawback is at dumping when removing the cap you would get some gray, (hopefully) water from between the two valves.

Does anyone do this? Tips and ideas please.

Thanks,

Mike

when I had a smaller trailer

I would just bring along a 5 gallon bucket to dump the grey water down the nearest drian

956wheel: Check this web site for specific information that will show you how to build a gray water transfer pump into the system. There is a wealth of information at this site on many RV subjects. http://rverscorner.com Look under the subheading of "water. " Another site I like and has pictures of the installation is bart. ccis.com. I tried this sight to verify it works and it does not work for me this evening. I am not sure what the problem is but maybe you can get the address to go through.

Use a bucket to dump into your toilet, or do like we do and use a dishpan and then dump it directly into your toilet. It will make a big difference.

I was thinking about just using the valves. With the cap on, open the gray valve, (thus "pressurizing" the area between valves), then opening the black for a few seconds. Close the black and close the gray. Only bad part, that I see, is the gray water (hopefully) maybe a quart or so, behind the cap when going to dump. Maybe a cap fitted with a small valve to drain that gray.

Has anybody tried this?

Yeah, I've tried this with my slide in camper, and my advise is DON'T DO IT! The black and grey just equalize across the tanks, and you'll get a LOT of black stuff sitting behind that drain cap.

Easiest way is to drain the grey into a bucket and pour it back into your toilet (thus filling up the black tank quicker, and then you HAVE to dump)

Camping World and RV suppliers sell tote tanks of various capacities. You dump into these tanks and then wheel them ('way to heavy to lift) over to some drain you can use to empty them.

Problem is, there are a LOT of places that frown on dumping into storm drains, and will turn you in in a heartbeat.

What I finally ended up doing is installing an RV holding tank in each of the two trailers that I always haul around. The added capacity carries us thru a weekend or until we can find a place to dump everything.
