Transferring factory warranty to new owner

I sold my 2003 Dodge with 40,000 miles on the od. Does the factory warranty (7 yr/70,000 miles drivetrain, 7 yr/100,000 mile Cummins (I think is what it is)) transfer to the new owner automatically with no charge?



I was quickly going through TDR and thought I saw a post that said the new owner would have to pay to get warranty coverage. Perhaps the post was tlaking about an extended warranty?



Bottom line, I want to make darned sure the new owner has the coverage I thought he had.

The factory warranty will go to the new owner. My 2003 did anyway, and thank god it did. My injector pump went out 2 months after I bought it!!!! :--) If you bought an entended warranty you should get a refund on it.

I suspect that the warranty paperwork that came with the truck should have some info on this.

I recently purchased a 2004 QC 2500 with 35k miles on it. I did some research and discovered that I was the 2nd owner and as such could transfer the 7/100K warranty to me for $150. If I did not pay the transfer fee, the powertrain warranty is reduced to 5 years and 100K miles. This is according to my owner's manual. Can someone verify this. It also states, I have to go to my local DC dealership to transfer the warranty and it must be within 30 days of purchase.

Factory warranty transfers automatically at no cost. Do nothing, and if work is needed they will do it and transfer it into your name at that time.

About the extended warranty please do this

If you have the Extended warranty that you bought to get a rfund you must call them to get a refund and give them the dates you sold or traded your truck or car to the dealer. Don't forget this!

The 7 yr. 70,000 mile warranty does not transfer Automatically! You must be the second owner and have 30 days from the purchase to go to a dealer and transfer the warranty. In my case it cost me $150 and I had to sign paperwork. The standard 3yr 36 or 5 year 100K on the motor do transfer automatically but the 7 70,000 has different guidlines.

6 MONTHS AFTER WE BOUGHT IT WE HAD WARRANTY WORK DONE, NO PAPERS NO MONEY ...



DROVE IT TO DEALER ... THEY CHECKED VIN AND DID THE WORK



HAVE HAD ALTERNATOR BRACKET, REAR U-JOINT, FRONT AXLE JOINTS AND LIMITED SLIP ALL REPLACED WITH NO PAPERWORK OTHER THAN TO SIGN THE RECIEPT
