Installed the abover kit in VB. Now when you floor it, it will kick down into 2nd, and stay there clear up to 3500, and won't shift until you let up on the throttle.

Also, 3rd gear shift is not that impressive, but OD really smacks--converter allready lock-up in 2000 models.

Anybody have any advise on what to fix with the kit.

Line preasure is 90 psi idle----115 psi 1800 rpm

Resister used was 147 omh.

Shifts fine no load driving around, but the 2nd gear kick-downs and staying there is not going to work.

I think Shooter is right. The cable is also referred to as the throttle valve (TV) cable or the kickdown cable. To my knowledge, the only on-line instructions for adjusting the cable are on the BD site:

http://www.bd-vfi.com/ram/data/Transmission Valve Bodies-manual.pdf

See page 7 of the PDF file. The adjustment is very easy to do, but be very careful with the white adjustment clip - VERY fragile. Use your fingers to take it off. If you break it, you have to buy a whole new cable. :(

Have fun!

TOO much second gear......

Max,

Good advice above and I might add that the adjustment to the TV cable is very sensitive. Your pressure looks to be a little on the high side too. Bill K. likes to see about 80 psi in drive @ idle - normal operating temperature with his valve bodies. Good luck!!!

PS. I sent your package out today. Hope you enjoy it.

No I have not adjusted the kick down.

Thanks guys. Top Fuel--I am to used to having line preasures in the 135 to 140 psi area in the ol' 727.

On the BD instructions it says:

(Adjustment spec – 1/8 inch movement = @75 rpm)

If thats the case, I need to move it about an inch--and I don't think that will happen. Some of you guys that have done that before--does it take that much. I want full throttle 2nd gear to come out at 2800 rpm, not 3500

I'm not positive about this, but I think the 1/8" = 75 rpm is at a WOT shift. During normal driving, I noticed that if I slid the cable about 1/2" forward from the stock position that the transmission wouldn't shift out of 2nd at all unless you let up on the throttle. It sounds like you need to move the cable back towards the firewall a bit.

During my adjustment process, I would go for a drive to check out the shift characteristics. If I didn't like it, I would pull over and quickly change the setting again - moving it about 1/8" at a time. Keep doing that till you get it to shift how you like it.
