While checking for vibrations in driveline today, I had truck up on four heavy duty jackstands. It's a w250 auto with 210K.

I first put in rear drive only, then engaged 4x4, then put front hubs in. turned out to be out of round tires.

However, when in NEUTRAL, it still drove the wheels!!!. Neighbor and I could hold them from turning, but even in four wheel drive, in neutral, would idle with wheels turning at 10 mph. IS THIS NORMAL OR IS SOMETHING WRONG? Transmission seems to work okay, although tend to shift up automatically soon. Fellow I bought it from had trans serviced every year by guy at Cummins shop.

thanks. Max Blair

Ever start a motorcycle on it's centerstand? The clutch packs are disengaged in neutral but there is still oil in there and that is what is driving the wheels.

If your concerned about the K/D being out of adjustment just have someone hold the throttle to the floor[ENGINE OFF PLEASE!] and unlock the cable adjuster and gently push the cable forward till it stops and lock it there. Done.

That's the RIGHT way to do it.

Ever have the truck creep forward a little at a stop light when you take your foot off the brake? Same thing is happening. With the truck on stands, there is no weight to hold the thing from turning. Sounds normal to me!

THANKS!!!

I appreciate you guys taking time to reply. Thnaks so much for the piece of mind!!!!. I will adjust kickdown as you suggested.

Thanks again. That what makes this sight so great. I've asked a few questions and the response has helped and paid for the membership many times over. Thanks again. Max
