I have an O6 Mega 4x4 with the auto transmission. It is all stock. Two years ago I took it in to the dealer for leaking trans fluid and the transmission hunting at low speed. After assessment, the fix was an adjusment to the transmission (Chrysler/factory authorized) that was supposedly an "enhancement" and correction for the hunting issue - however it involved raising the operating pressures of the trans. At the time I expressed concern for the long term effects. Now I have a blown torque converter seal (I think that is what they said) that is causing trans fluid to leak again. Anyone have this "fix" done? I have to get my truck back to look at the paperwork from the repair/adjustment 2 yrs ago for details, so forgive any misstatements or lack of info. I have an extended powertrain warranty that doesn't cover seals, but if the prior adjustment caused premature seal failure, I can prob get it covered. Any info appreciated.

Thanks

Wow, they must have changed the extended warranty plan after too many claims. The EW on my old 93 CTD covered all gaskets and seals. Come to think of it, I did have several claims on that truck for leaks.

The pressure raise was done in the VB. The TC seal on the front is not under that pressure as it runs the pump gears, only what is pulled from the sump.

On that note, I would tell them they raised the pressures and now need to put a new seal in to handle it. ;)

Just keep in mind if the service writer and warranty company are sharp they may know what is what and push back.

Thanks for the responses. I will see what happens tomorrow when I go to pick it up. I have had ongoing leak issues for a couple of years. Other than that, the truck has been perfect.

Good time to upgrade instead of throwing OEM Dodge parts at it. Maybe a mild VB and TC upgrade is in order.
