i am getting some guages and was wondering what ranges i should expect for normal operation temps. what is the high limit i should avoid, etc. i have a 1995 4x4 automatic transmission that is stock other than a tst plate and an air intake
Hey Blitz! 1300 is the "Max Safe Zone" alltho I have taken mine up to 1700 before for a quick run thru the gears. Your temps will vary as you know how you drive . I can go down the highway and keep egt's at 1200-1300 or mash it and see 1400 or keep em under 800 ... . all with foot control.
EDIT:
Oh and for the trans in cold weather on the highway I see 100*-120* but in the summer 180* average (Bombed DTT trans with the sending unit on the supply line NOT in the pan. ) avoid 250+
Toolman seemed a little high for the EGT--as you can see I have dual Westach EGT with probe before and after turbo--don't believe I have seen much more than 1000 at either gauge. I was lazy on the trans-temp and read the pan, but see the same temps as the guys who break the line to insert--your choice, guess the pan of transmission is slower to show you what you should already know!!!
