What brand and set up do you use to monitor 5spd and rear end temps? Just put on fast coolers and am interested in how cool they are running.

transmission and Diff Temps

Well, I just got my Mag-Hytec diff cover on last weekend and the new improved fast coolers should be on their way from Verlyn today.

I changed to Le 607 in the diff and on a 30 mile hyway run at 65 and MT it got to about 150 degrees with an OAT of about 60. I am having one HE!! of a time tracking down the lube for the NV5600 and not having to finance through DC.

I will post some temps when I get the transmission hooked up and tow the Fox. We are about due to get out of the house for a while.

PW:

On mine with the Mag-Hytec , outside temps at 60 and me runnin 75 on the interstate, The temps run 148-152. Now I use the Series 2000 and as of now about 60K miles on it . That I will change soon. On the transmission, I have an aluminun cover with the hole for the temp probe and the Geno's filter on the other side. . Runnin the same as the rear, I get to 150, and that takes about 40 miles to get to that. I'm on my 4th transmission so I monitor it pretty close. I have the AutoMeter gauges.

The Nordskog digital transmission or oil temp gauges from Summit make an excellent rearend and trans temp gauge. Their senders are probably the most economical you will find. One gauge, two senders and a switch to toggle back and forth will set you back less than $75. Gauges read 0-300° with 1° resolution and look great. If you want to get fancy and like to experiment as I do, you can buy a multi-position switch and more senders to monitor oil, intake air or even outside air temperatures from one gauge. As I found out the hard way plan ahead, there is a limit to how many wires will fit though the firewall grommet. One multi-conductor cable works best.
