Got a quesiton about the adapter that mates the NV4500 to the NP241 on my truck. I was under the truck looking it over last week before my 4 hour road trip upstate and got to looking around the transmission and transfer case and noticed the aluminum adapter looked like it had some cracks in it. The area I am refering to is on the t-case side of the adapter on the bottom where it mounts to the crossmember. On the bottom of the adapter whre it mounts to the crossmember it looked buldged out some and even cracked. I have heard these aluminum adapters have a tendency to crack, but I never heard where they typically crack. I don't have any vibrations anywhere and everything feels tight, so that lead me to believe that they were just casting marks left from the factory. But if they are casting marks then where should I look for possible cracking of this adapter?

Thanks, Joe

;) BTW you really need to do something about that transfer case, a mud hole, some grease maybe, I don't know how some of you guys keep the underside of your rigs that clean :D

I thought it was casting flash, but it doesn't hurt to ask.

I keep my rig clean all the time. Trust me it has seen it's fare share of mud, rocks and tight trails. I just use my 'ol trusty pressure washer after each mud run. Just takin' care of her so she lasts as long as the engine. :D
