Is this good for 550hp?

To add to a stuck caliper, and a failed Fass pump, my transmission has now failed.

I was driving along, and went to pass a car. I felt the truck do something and noticed it was wierd all of a sudden. I let off of the pedal a bit and finished passing. Then I noticed that the RPM's were going up, and I was going slower. Eventually it was like I was in full neutral.

I pulled over and saw trans fluid on the snow out in front of the truck, and some more fluid under the trans, that looked like it was coming from the bellhousing area.

Anyone have a clue?

I went out and looked at it again. I didn't see a drop of trans fluid leaking anywhere.

I took of the inspection cover on the bottom, and there was no trans fluid in there either. I don't know where the fluid I saw before came from now.

It also would move, barely in forward and reverse if I reved the engine good. I tried to back it into my garage, but it wouldn't make it up any sort of incline, and my neighbors (duplex) were looking out the front door, wondering why my truck was reving in the driveway and blocking it. So I had to pull it outl of the way w/ the van I'm borrowing (no other driver either).

It seems like it is out of fluid, but if I check the dipstick it is actually overfull.

How overfilled is it.

I think I remember it was over the little bends in the stick at the bottom, maybe a quart or two? I had it a little overfilled before, but I don't remember it being that much.

BTW: If anyone from south central wisconsin reads this, I need recommendations for a transmission shop!

Things aren't adding up. You saw transmission fluid on the ground, yet the level in the transmission is UP.

Your symptoms are of a transmission without enough fluid in it (or possibly a valve body issue).

Maybe the torque converter drained? I'm not sure the mechanism by which that would happen. Failed (stuck open) anti-drainback valve?

If you can arrange Transport to Here Blaine/StCloud MN we May Be able to Help, We have Free Loaners for the Trip Back Home, Or to Goerend Trans in St Lucas IA. But the fluid in the front when 1st inspected is throwing Me for a loop. I think you may have a leak in the secondary cooler/heater mounted Driver side engine.

It's not just you that it is throwing for a loop!

I got under it last night, and I can't find any trans fluid anywhere, not a drop. Nothing where the TQ conv. is either.

I can get a vehicle to tow my truck with, but my trouble is getting a trailer to put my truck on. My trailer is up at our family property and the road has about 2-3ft of snow on it!

I was able to get a truck and my trailer today. The truck is ready to go wherever I decide to take it.

I'm thinking of bringing it back to Michigan to a guy I trust.

TWest: I'm interested to see what capabilities your shop has trans wise, I see you have ATS and Goerend listed on your site. I have an ATS converter and VB in my trans so someone w/ some experience with those pieces may be helpful.

I will try and call your shop monday, who should I ask to talk to?

Also, I will note that I was actually able to drive my truck up the trailer! I started it and it barely moved forward like last time, and backwards a little better, then when I got halfway up the trailer it seemed to catch even more. After I got it on the trailer I moved it back and forth a couple times and the last time I couldn't even back it up at all.

It is really wierd, it seems like something is up w/ the fluid/pressure.

At least you're doing it right the first time! you can be satisfied that you've fixed the trucks "weak link" permanently.

This will be my 3rd trans. Original, then replaced under warranty, and I put in an ATS converter and VB, hoping to make it last, but that didn't work. All I'm running is an old program TST on 315's and snapped the shaft.

I wish I would have boughten a manual trans truck!

OK, third times the charm?:-laf I doubt you'll break one of Daves trannys, then you can relax and focus on other things... like making MORE power. :D
