Trany Band Ajdustment Instructions on 94,95,96.

I recently typed up some Band Adjustment instructions - including torque settings and band adjustment screw settings - for another member.

I included the settings for the automatics in 1994 - 1996 trucks.

If anyone would like a copy, please PM me with your e-mail address and I'll forward it to you via e-mail - it's too much text to fit here.

It's in Microsoft Word format.

If you're thinking about changing the transmission filter, adjust your front and rear bands while your in there. "Yes" even you can do it. This is a good, non-technical Shade Tree maintenance item that most of us should have no problem doing.

I'd appreciate it if one of you transmission experts would proof read my instructions to help make sure I'm not missing anything. I think I've got it, but I'd feel better knowing someone else has looked them over.

Some of the transmission experts say you're better off not adjusting the bands. Too tight and you burn up bands, too loose and there is no problem. Moving this to 12 valve.

Band Adjustment

illflem,

Sorry this post is a little late. Bands set too tight will drag and wear the band unevenly very quickly. Set too loose and and you affect the timing of the band application. You can really feel this on the rear band. If the rear band is just a little too loose it will really began to bang into drive from neutral.
