Last night I changed the fluid and put in a Drain Plug kit in my 2000 QC Shortbed. While I was in "There" I readjusted the bands. I did it to the "Book" and to this site: http://www.dodgeram.org/tech/transmission/automatic/AT_band_adj.htm
On the way home, I noticed that the 2-3 shift was "delayed", then it would hook up nicely. I am wondering if I misadjusted the Front band to loosely. As in, "If the front band releases too early in the shift, the engine will over speed (sounds and feels like a slip) during the 2-3 shift. " Also that page had a line, "From Bill Konolday's 47RE notes: I usually go a little looser than factory specs on this front band - backing off the adjustment screw 2 or 2 1/4 turns. Depending on the circumstances I have backed off the band up to 2 1/2 turns. " Hey, If a Konolday says to go looser on this band, then who am I , just a Big Dumb Moose, to Argue?
So, The question I have now is, "If the specs call for 1 and 7/8 turns, Can I turn that adjustment in 1/8 of a turn?"
Or should I go back to my friend's place and borrow his 0-100"Lb Torque Wrench and do the Front band thing from scratch?
