I am looking for a transmission builder here in the mid-south. My trans in my 03 is beginning to go south on me and slip when under a load. Factory rebuilt it under warranty at about 60k now have close to 160k want to have it done right were I can get the power to the ground.

I don't want to start a thread about what manufacture has the best parts. I just want to know if there are any competent trans Builders in the area that any members have used and would use again.

Thanks

I'm in Spokane WA but have a guy in Terre Haute IN who does work for me... . Don't have a clue how close he is to you but I've actually shipped stuff to him... and back... each one he's done for me has lasted the life of the truck while I've owned it...

I'm pleased to say the least...

You might contact Redmond Enterprises and see who he would reccomend. I know he has his own shop and writes articles for the TDR on occasion. Hes out of Plano Texas. As for Arkansas... . I don't have a clue who to use.

Short of that, i'd probably crate it up and send it to Goerend for a zero hour overhaul and upgrade, or possibly by an exchange unit from him ready to go. Then do the swap yourself or have a competent local shop do the R&I.

Good Luck

Garmons in Griffin GA is the closest to you I know of.

Were you wanting to drop the trans yourself and ship it or drop it off at a shop and have it done?

I would really like to drive it somewhere and have it done turn key. Big reason is when its done and in the truck I can go test drive and have any bugs worked out.

I know I am capaple of removing and replacing the unit but I have read to many post about peoples trans needing a little tweaking here and there to get the trouble free miles that they are expecting. I don't want to have to try to tweak it over the phone. I will call some of the suggestions and see what they recomend.

Does Redmond do transmissions or just have a shop in general.

I ended up going with a Goerend complete trans. Having it put in tommorrow. Thanks for all the help.

You made the right call, Goerend builds a fantastic trans, I put mine in 6000 miles back, what a differience from stock, you will be happy.

Well I told yall I would report in so hear it goes.

I had the transmission shipped to me and took it to a small local dodge dealer to install. The staff was amazed at the quailty of the trans and the size of the converter. I picked it up late on a wed night and could instantly tell the difference. On Thursday morning it was hooked to the trailer and away we went I was amazed at the difference it was like night and day. On a side note the milage increased about 1 to 1. 5 mpg while pulling the trailer on a know route that I travel constantly. On sat night we made a 70 miles round trip with out the trailer to eat and by the the time we got back I had a little surge that could be felt. I had had this before but only with cruise on this was with out the cruise. When I started home Sunday night the truck just didnt' preform as I thought is should just felt weak to me.

So with 160k on the stock lift pump I knew I was on borrowed time. Since I had a pump from geno's in the garage I thought it would be easier to replace it at home as opposed to the side of the road somewhere. I replaced it Tuesday night and replaced the fuel filter also on Wed night I left with it hooked to the trailer again this time it ran perfect. I now have about 1500 miles on the new trans it is great.

Now if I will only win the Pac exahust brake that they are giving away I will be set.

On two side notes

1 - the Lift Pump seems to have fixed the surging with cruise control also.

2 - I don't reccommed replacing the Lift Pump with a full tank of fuel I seemed to loose about 4 gallons as I was trying to make the hoses all match.
