What are the consequences of temporarily removing the checkvalve from the automatic transmission cooler circuit. I am having temperature problems which I believe are just sender/gauge problems, however If I determine (this evening) that the gauge system is working correctly I will want to eliminate the check valve until I can get another one.

Thanks

All the check valve does is eliminate converter drainback. If you remove it, the converter will take about 15 seconds to fill after sitting overnight when starting. You shoild not drive until it fills.

The check valve also reduces converter and cooler flow to about 1/2 volume. I removed mine 4 years ago and have not looked back.

You don't really drive off until it is filled. It only takes a few seconds of idle in "N" to fill it. If you have an aftermarket VB it will probably have been modified to fill in "P". Not really a good idea to just jump it in and go. Lots of slippage until you get the pressure up. Once it has filled it's good for all day. It takes a few hours to drain the TC to cause this.
