HI,

I have a 1993 W250 with auto trans. The line is leaking from the factory coolant to transmission fluid cooler(at the area where the metal line screws into the coolant cooler) . I tightened the line up as tight as I could but it still leaks.

I removed the metal cooler line and it looked at it. It looks to be in good condition...no holes etc.

Is the nipple on the coolant cooler removable too or is it that build as part of the cooler?...If not how to remove it?....Is it just a metal to metal flare fitting or are there supposed to be o rings? What size wrenches will I need to buy?

My struck leaks too much fluid to drive.

Thanks

Andrew

Pretty sure it is part of the cooler. Are you sure the hard line is not cracked on the flare, that is usually what happens from the vibration.

HI,

Thanks for getting back....Due to snow, I had to get the truck towed.

FWIW (in case it helps others in a similar situation), there is a screw in nipple that threads into the factory coolant trans cooler.
In my case the hard line with the flare had a hairline crack in it ( Just above where the flare was) so the shop cut off a small section added a piece of tubing and re flared the end.

In all, the hardest part was all the mess and the lack of access....I had to cut a wrench to have it fit in and be able to tighten the fittings (it was too long and would not allow me to tighten the fittings as much as needed).
