Can anyone tell me which line out of the transmission is the input to the cooler? I have a 93 D250 Ram CTD with standard 4 speed/over-dirve and factory installed 2nd cooler under the bed. Sorry guys, I haven't got the shop manual yet. A picture would be great. I want to put the trans temp gage sensor in that line. Also, is a brass tee allright or should I try to find a steel fitting? I haven't crawled under yet but I though I would save a trip and ask first.

You want the temp sensor in the line towards the front of the trans on the drivers side. That is the hot output line fir the cooler and will already have a tempsensor in the line at the front part of the trans. Some replace the factory sensor with a T fitting and install the factory sensor and new sender in the ends of the T. Other will tap the line somewhere close to the case fitting and install another T to make sure the sensor is in the fluid flow. Matter of choice I guess.

I think a brass fitting and compression fittings would be fine.

These super duty coolers were actually dealer installed. If yours is plumbed like mine, it has a brass elbow with a compression coupling on the output line. There is a hose barb threaded into the end of the elbow. I removed the barb, added a close nipple and a tee, then threaded the barb into the tee. To mount the sender, I got a pipe plug from an old intake manifold that had an allen style head. After torqueing it into the tee, I drilled and tapped the hex part out to 1/8 pipe threads for the sender. (I modified the plug and did the sender placement off the truck to clean out the shavings from the tee. )
