My transmission lines are leeking,,they wore through both lines that clip together behind the engine oil pan.

I can get replacements from Dodge,,but they need a few extra fittings for the new style line.

Instead. i want to add a secondary spin on filter attached to the frame next to the transmission. .

I was hoping someone here that has done the same thing would have the correct size for the fittings that enter the transmission as well the ones that go into the engine mounted cooler. .

I plan on using 37 dgree fittings for the hydraulic hoses and the nipples in the cooler and transmission.

I realise i could just use barbed fittings,,but these seem a beter idea for future servicing.

So if anyone has the right sizes for the NPT ports i would greatly appreciate it,,,save a lot of downtime.

Thanks all

I had mine wear through by rubbing the crankcase breather hose , did not want to even talk to dodge [ prices to high , only complete lines ] , went looking for aluminumized steel line in bulk , could not find , ended up using 1/2" O. D. copper tubing [ not pipe , tubbing works better to bend ] and compression fittings for patching .
When I can aford to build a trans then I'll look at replacing the lines again .
I'm linking to this to find opptions .

I'm not sure about the npt size, but when mine finishes wearing through I'm gonna use s. s. tubing and Swagelok type compression fittings. I know the local guy, but you can get good stuff at mcmastercarr.com.

Vaughn,

Have you crawled under the truck and looked at the fittings? If they are normal looking and screw into the trans then you have the later fittings. I don't remember when the recall for failing fittings was that applied to gassers only so I have not answered. I think the next year all of the trucks had the new trans lines. Regardless of that, the lines rub together where they cross over behind the bell housing so they will eventually leak. I replaced mine with hydraulic hose.

Man Joe I thought I had this thread to myself :p

Thanks for the information. I've crawled under my truck before but didn't really notice what the lines looked like since there's years of buildup on them. I'll check it out again :)
