Archived transmission cooler seeping

Hi all,
Leaving in 1 week for big trip and was under truck and saw some seepage coming from the trans cooler . Where would be fastest and fair priced other than local s t e a l e r to buy? The aftermarket ones don't fit well from what I have read on reviews so OEM. Thanks in advance

The Derale is probably the best buy and I think they can be had with\without that thermostat. That way you could have civilized connections instead of the leak prone quick connects. Fitment is like anything else, you migh have to work at it. If you are set on OE one of the mopar parts online sites is your best bet.

Thanks Cerb . Ya not sure about the Derale everything is barbed and since I'm running a built trans I'm worried about hose clamps. what do you think the pump pressure is at max? . I may go to the OEM and clean the connection areas real good before tearing apart , I know those fittings can be finicky. I did buy an aux with elec. fan from Derale not sure if time will permit for that hook up . That one is threaded connections

The trans cooler should be open flow with little restriction, so I would not worry overmuch about pressure. Just need a good seal. If you have enough hose, cut off the first inch then re seat on the barbed hose connections and replace the clamps.

I *think* Derale has a version that is threaded so you can use real filltings. You would need a union in both lines, or flare fititngs, which would add to the cost so it has to be looked at in the over all scheme of what you are doing.

Pump pressure is not relevant as the cooler output is controlled by a shuttle valve. Max pressure I think is somewhere around 60 psi out of the trans. However, it may not be that high in the whole system due to the fact pressures is just a measurment of restriction. How much restriction is in the system is the question. I want to say probably 40-50 psi is all but have not had the chance to drop a gauge on it yet to measure.


Mine is seeping, it needs replaced. Time to look at cooler lines for problems also, already had to replace one. My plan is new lines out hydraulic hose and the flares needed to connect up to a new cooler sans thermostat,

Cerb decided to replace with OEM from Amazon 177.00 . Dealer 250.00. Bought the tool for the awesome couplings can't wait for this....

That is not a bad price if it is OE quality or close. Have to do what works at the time. The OE cooler is not bad, just a pain to flush and deal with the couplings if they leak.

Ok just got the installation done cleaned the disconnects with wd-40 and took some bolt cutters and cut the cooler to get it out of the way . Fiddled with the disconnects a bit but came apart with little effort. Had a bit of buildup on the radiator so I gunked it and hosed it off with some pressure. From my research don't buy the aftermarket look-a-like they don't fit well you have to emery paper the tubing down as the OD is oversize. If I had the time I would have liked to done a Derale but time would not permit. I noticed the mounting brackets changed the old one had more od a extruded piece and the new one which I didn't take a pic of was flimsier. here's a pic
