as i stated in a previous post. i lost the use of third and fourth gear. i dropped the transmission today. opened it up hoping for a broken shift fork. they were all good. all the teeth on the main gears were in tact and in good shape. nothing swimming in the bottom of it. after further investigation it was discovered that she twisted the main shaft off right where 3rd and 4th is on the main shaft. ceramic clutch is doing its job i spose :D

now as far as replacing the main shaft.

quad 4x4, sells a extreme duty main shaft kit. that comes with the special tools you will need, and the rest of the things you wouldnt need. that is 550 or there abouts. reasonable?

do you guys/gals have an opinion on these people and their stuff? also what would make it an "extreme duty" mainshaft?

standard transmission isnt open so i cant talk to them.

basically i am asking those of you who have had to go through this before what is the best route to take. i have to make this count money wise. uncle sam doesnt give me a very big allowance ;) and i just bought a new turbo, so its safe to say the squeeze is on. i appreciate any help and/or advise you can afford me. thank you .

Don't know what makes it an "extreme" duty shaft, but I always thought that Standard Transmission had the best prices and availability on NV4500 parts. How much power are you running to twist the main shaft like that?
