I recently had my auto trans rebuilt and now when it sits overnight I end up letting it idle in 'N' for a few seconds in order to get everything in the transmission filled back up with fluid. Is there a anti drainback valve in the lines somewhere that may be stuck open?

I dont remember one being in my trans lines. I work at a transmission shop and we remove those check valves when we do a rebuild. they usually plug up causing early failure. I have never seen one that stuck open. it shouldnt take more than about a second to fill up. if it takes longer something else is probably wrong.

Since having my DTT upgrade done,I was instructed by Fred Swanson to start the vehicle in neutral and wait 20-30 seconds before departing. During winter after vehicle has sat for a day I let it run in neutral for a minute or more and it's good to go.

Mine did this too, it was the checkball... the spring had broken and allowed the ball to simply float around in there...

The checkball is in the lines up near the cooler.

Do you have to change the whole line or is it a fitting?

When my trans was DTT'ed I was told it moves fluid regardless of shift position, unlike stock it will move fluid in park. My trans rebuilder told me he made it so it would move fluid in park. Never had any wait time or trouble with fluid movement.

That would be a helpful mod to have done and don't understand why DC has never done it (even the 727s back to the 60s are this way... )...
