For the past couple of months I've allways noticed a wet spot underneath my truck. Not a lot but a little. I always assumed it was coming from the oil line because it has done that in the past.

So today I've let my truck sit for a couple of days, we both needed the rest. I looked under it because I noticed that wet spot. Well I was surprised to find out it wasn't coming from the tube it was coming from the transmission pan!!! There is about 3 drips on the pan about ready to drop. I couldn't believe it.
Where is this coming from? What do you think is going on? I checked the fluid level and it's perfect. I'm getting worried here, hoping i'm not in for an expensive fix.

it's red that's why I think it's the transmission fluid. Only other red fluid is hydro oil and we don't have any of that on board. The truck hasn't been driven for 3 days if this helps.

Check the transmission shifter linkage area, or the filler tube area. It could be caused by a converter drain back problem. Or it could even be just a simple pan gasket leak. Sometimes this is caused by over tightening the pan bolts. If the gasket is leaking don't re-tighten the bolts because it could become a major leak.

PS: My dads motorhome has a linkage seal leak that does this when its been parked for a while. But he's to lazy to fix the leak, and he's waiting for the day that I will fix it. #ad

Had the same problem with my 95. Changed out the pan gasket ($3), still leaked. Bought a new pan ($55)and gasket ($3), still leaked. I was convinced it was the pan gasket. Talked with the local DC diesel service mechanic and he told me it was most likely the dipstick tube "O" ring. Bought one for $1. 50 and it hasn't leaked since. Change out time was under 30 minutes. Hope this helps.

I may be stepping into it big time here but...
If it appears to be coming from the pan gasket area, it could be the pan bolts are "loose". What happens, especially with cork/rubber gaskets, is the gasket looses some of its compressability or it "takes a set". Check to see if the bolts are tight. If they are loose, you will be suprised how loose they are. Obviously, like Stephan mentioned, don't overtighten them. If they feel snug, they should be tight enough.
