Chevron states that it is a synthetic (based) or properties(?) ATF, however so does Castroil Syn-tech (spell check please. . ) This is just a ultra refined mineral oil that claims to be so. As I read in many of articles Amsoil was the first on the market with a true Type IV synthetic ATF. I am not a dealer nor will I ever be a dealer for amsoil or any other tier sales group. Yes, I do agree with you that opinions and true truck junkies do lay claims to knowing more then what is researched by manufacturers and engineers to be true. However ALL of us here are left with what is available to us by faith, warranties and pure luck. Meaning there is no product that is better then the other unless tested in real world scenarios such as me, I do not have good luck with Dodge and there transmissions. Been through to many trannies and now want something to believe in other then their ATF+4 oil. So, that leave very few out there that are willing to stand behind their ATF oil other then Amsoil.

What shall a man do!??

I've owned several sticks and several automatics. The automatics aren't prone to spring wrap-up and chatter while backing over 10,000 lbs uphill in tight spaces. Sticks are better for the long haul. Automatics are better for yard work. You just have to keep them cool. The '03s came out with a plastic check ball in the cooler line check valve. When the ball became soaked with transmission fluid, it would swell and stick closed. Then the transmission had no cooling at all. It would burn the fluid with normal driving. The new check valve has a steel ball. Problem solved.

How do you keep a clutch cool when you've got some serious grunt work to do? Yeah I feel like a manly man with a stick but after the novelty wears off, it's just a stick.

I agree with Steve M... when the novelty wears off it is only a stick. This is America the great. . we are considered fat and lazy. . who wants a stick, come on.

Seriously, I have had my share of sticks in my sports cars, busted my left knee in a fall, now it locks up in city traffic, I mean traffic on I40 in Raleigh, N. Carolina. So... build a real transmission and lets stop fussing already! (Allison... ???)

I've got knee and back problems and loss of full muscle control left leg. A stick is no problem tho and can bang gears as good as I could 30 years ago with a MUNCIE. Don't need a short thow. can shift and not miss up or down as fast as the engine can stand with a six speed. :D

Well I just fix my 47RE transmission today for good!!!

I went out and traded it for a new 04 H. O. 48RE transmission:-laf :-laf

Let me tell you, I am going to enjoy this one... :D

I talked to the transmission guy today about the 47RE and he told me the weight I tow on a regular basis that I will be in that transmission again before long. So, at $2800. ++ per rebuild, count me out! He also told me that he has NOT seen a 48RE in for any type of problem. Wish me luck on this one.

Get a stick :D

Come on guys, it's an old fashioned gear box, lol ... ... ... p*ss on all those electronics to do your shifting if you want something that will last under a load.
