A buddy of mine recommended that I change the transmission fluid on my truck. I am considdering doing it myself, but I am not sure what I am getting myself into on the nv5600. As I have never done a manual transmission fluid change before. Also any recommendation on the Amsoil synthetic vs the Mopar? Any advice and tips are greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Its not hard to do, to drain it just remove the lowest bolt on the PTO cover and that will let almost all the fluid drain. To fill, remove the plug, its allen head, and fill till it won't take anymore. As for fluid, I used Penzoil Syncromesh, its the same as the Mopar fluid at the dealer, just without the mark up on the price. OH, and the fill plug is like a 17mm I think, I had to make one out of a bolt cause I could'nt find an allenwrench that big...

Don't know about the NV transmission but Autozone had an allen socket set that fit the large plugs on my G56, but not the smaller T-case plugs. Luckily, my Dad's shop had a large enough L-Allen wrench to do the job. On the G56, there's a drain plug on the bottom, and a side fill plug, plus the PTO covers.
