After changing my fluid and filters and replacing the stock pan with the MagHytec (Removed 10 qts and added 12qts) I have read some posts where guys are checking their fluid after a fluid & filter change and had "cold" readings of barely on the stick (not the correct way to check fluid level) but the theory was the fluid expanded when HOT. Mine reads almost to the HOT marks, while cold. WTH?????

But wait you are ONLY suppose the get the accurate reading when at operating temperature (165'-170') while in Park!!! Got it Check and recheck. Now it reads half way between the cold and hot marks. Again ??? I would think some of the fluid is in the convertor and other areas of the transmission while running through the gears (as I was instructed to do). So, do I ignore the cold reading and add another half to 1 qt, based on the correct method as outlined int he manual?

Oh and the transmission is shifting very nice., No issues at all.

Keep an eye on it, dont over fill it.
It doesn't matter that much if there is 1/8" more or less level on the pan.

Over filling is the bad part as it ends in foaming, throwing fluid out the dipstick and more nasty stuff.

Thank you Ozymandias....it runs smooth and I know there is a good amount (12 qts) of new fluid. This is my first transmission maintenance on a RAM diesel, just want to make sure I dont screw it up. =)

I have the OEM pan and have found the cold readings to be not very precise. Best bet is to check while hot. If you verified what you drained and added what Mag claims as the added capacity over the OEM pan you are good to run it up to temp to check the final level.
