I have generally found that just a filter and fluid change takes about 6 to 9 quarts. I start with 5 and keep adding until the dip stick reads mid way between full and add. I also run it throught the gears(with my foot on the brake) with each quart I add. Keep in mind the temp of the trans, the fluid will expand with added heat.
 
Check the Amsoil website. They have a section that allows you to enter you specific vehicle info. and it gives capaities and fluid requirments.



I just changed mine with a flush and I think it was about 15qts.

Interesting thread on 'Diesel Ram' from a transmission builder regarding doing a 'flush' as opposed to just a drain & fill. Interesting read at least...
