Transmission Gasket

Does anyone know where i can get a rubber gasket for my transmission pan... . I just never haave any luck with those gaskets you buy at Autozone, O'Reilley's, etc... Or what gasket do you all use and had good luck with?

Go to a transmission shop in your town.



I believe the gasket is neoprene(sp?)

I have a rubber gasket that came with my Mag-Hytec you can have.



I don't like rubber. I prefer the cork gaskets with the steel inserts (OEM).



Personal preference I guess.

Cooker, I agree with you 100%. The new cork OEM works great with those inserts. No worry about sqeezing the cork too thin when you tighten it up. I actually reused my cork one with the inserts the last time I had the pan off. It was like new so I gave it a try, no leaks at all.

I got a neoprene one at Kragens. It's tough and does not leak.

I've had good luck with the kits (filter & gasket) from NAPA and Car Quest. They aren't the cork type (I can't get those to work unless they have a steel insert) but they do have special bolt holes to hold the gasket flat and hold the blots in place.



Any pan style gasket (except the ones with a steel insert) will take a set within minutes and need to be snugged down at least twice after the initial tightening to seal correctly. I usually do the first tightening after I start to fill and the second after I'm done. No leaks!
