I know I've seen it here before but I sure can't find it again. I'm going to put a transmission temp gauge in and would like to use one of the ports on the side of the transmission for the sender. Does anyone know which one would be best to use, I think there are 4 or 5 of them on the passenger side of the transmission. 04. 5, automatic.

Thanks

There is some contraversy about using the test ports. I have had my sender in one of them for about 7K miles with no problems. It reacts very fast, the other day I was towing and when I got home and started backing the trailer in the temp went up 15 degrees in about 30 seconds. It also reacts quickly if I get in traffic and the TC unlocks. I have a picture in my reader rig of the sender in the port I chose. The sender is a Autometer from the phantom series gauges.

Do you mean possible trouble with using the test ports or perhaps it's not as accurate? I have the Autometer unit on order and was also wondering about the correct port.

Both. Some have said it is not an accurate way to measure the temp and that it can interfere with some solinoid. I do not remember the exact details on the latter. I have had no problems with mine and it reacts quickly.
