Hello everybody. I'm new to the TDR and am still learning the ropes of this website. I do have a question about my transmission gauge. Where's the best place to install the temp. sending unit on the transmission. I have ISSPRO gauges mounted on the a-pillar. It's a '95 with the 47RH. I've heard of installing it in the cooler lines or the transmission oil pan. This is the only gauge I don't have hooked up yet. Any info. would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again.

Theres a sensor [ that keeps the trans. from O. D. when cold{these trans. are a week point ] on a line on the drivers side next to trans. on mine [ yours may very] I made a tee with a cobination of brass fittings for the gauge sensor, the problum is that now with the cold weather coming back it takes a lot longer for O. D. to come in.

I agree, the line with the sending unit is out of the trans on its way to the cooler. these are the hottest/most accurate trans temps you will see. i had to put a 94 model line on my 98 when i built the trans, just so i could install the sending unit there. you can't get rid of the sending unit on the RH, so i would make a "t" like JFaughn said and install it in the line also.

I put mine in a test port located on the passenger side of the transmission, just above the oil pan. There are two there, I used the one closest to the front of the truck. However, I have read that putting it in the cooler line is the most accurate location. I chose the easy route, just removed the threaded plug from the test port and screwed in my sensor. I did this quickly to keep from spilling trans fluid everywhere.

Put it in the temp port on the "hot" line going to the cooler. Put a 700 to 1000 ohm resistor into the old plug for the temp sensor. This tells the computer the transmission is at temp so it will shift properly. Temp sensor there will give you the hottest point in your transmission. Has worked well in mine for several years now.
