I know that the six speed is a syncronized transmission and until 11,621 miles I thought that reverse was syncronized. Am I having a brain fart or is this transmission supposed to be syncronized going in to reverse. I am asking this because prior to last Friday my transmission has been performing flawlessly, no grinding at all! Then all of a sudden, if you push in the clutch and immediately go to reverse it grinds like hell until the transmission stops spinning. My old Muncie 465's used to always do this and it was no problem. But, I did not expect this transmission to do this. Am I losing my mind or did I lose my reverse syncro? Someone please clear this up, and if it is a syncro is their anything I can tell DC so I can get a new more up to date transmission? Thanks in advance for the help! BTW my truck is a 01 bult in 10/00, is there an improved 6 speed? Sorry for the long post!

My 2001 ETH has done that since new and with over 20,000 miles, it still does it. My buddy's Powerstroke 6 speed does it also, so I assume that this is normal. I just don't get in a hurry when putting it in reverse.

Mine has always gone into reverse without grinding. Almost everytime I leave the driveway, the truck will be rolling forward and I can put in into reverse with no grinding(that's one of the nice features of this transmission).
