Hi guys! Just wondering if ya'll can help me out some?

I'v got an '03 2500 with the 48RE auto in it. Like in the morning i go start it, put it in reverse it engages real nice. But then i go put it in drive and it hesitates for about 3-5 seconds before it engages. It'll do it too when it sets for half a day or longer. When it's warm and been driven not real long ago it works great too. It never does it in reverse.

Any thoughts? I love to hear em.

Put the trans in neutral for 30 seconds before engaging gears and see if that changes the hesitation. With age and mileage the TC will drain down and it will take some time to charge it when engaging gears.

I had the transmission rebuilt about 26,000 miles ago with BD parts. This morning I tried what you suggested, and i seemed a little bit better. Guess I'll keep trying that and see if that totally takes care of it. Could it be time to change the filter? I put Amsoil in it when I got it rebuilt. One thing doesn't make sense to me is it only does it's thing in drive, never in reverse.

If it has been rebuilt recently it sounds like you may have a leak or seal that is not sealing cold or when it should.

If you haven't changed the fluid since the rebuild, YES change it.
Drive is a lower pressure than reverse, so that is what you are noticing.

I changed the check valve prolly about 10,000miles ago.

But I just got done ordering oil & filter for the transmission. We'll see if that takes care of it.

Thanks Guys for your input.

Hey guys wanted to let ya'll know i changed the fluid and filter Saturday. It was definantly time to change it. Dont know why i didn't think bout changing it sooner since it was the first time since it was rebuilt. But it seems to work better, thankfully. :)

Thanks so much guys for your input!!
