I was on my way to class this morning after running around for a bit with everything running normal. I left a stop sign and when the truck went to shift instead of getting second i got OD lock up at 15 mph  . transmission fluid is fine as that was the first thing that i checked. Any thoughts. The black cloud is really cool though. :-laf

Just want to reply and get that goose-egg off the page. I have never heard of a case where the 47RH skipped 2nd and 3rd altogether. Do you have a "mystery switch" that forces and keeps the ground connection needed for the torque converter clutch to lock up? At 15 mph and in OD locked, I would guess that your engine stalled. If it did, were you able to start back up and have it shift normally? If so, you may have a quirky ground somewhere. How long since the ATS rebuild? Maybe something there.

If you have a manual lockup switch for a 47RH transmission it won't lockup with the truck stopped when the switch is on. In fact, it will not lockup until the trans shifts to 2nd. It will lockup in 2nd and stay locked. If you don't have manual lockup switch (AKA mystery switch) then you should look for a short in the orange/black wire going to the three wire plug on the trans. If no short, it may be a PCM problem.
