Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Transmission issues..

So my transmission has been reliable as long as I have had the truck. I had some things redone on it 1. 5 years ago. When I up graded the hp I was told that I need to upgrade the trans shafts. I brought up from Suncoast the input, output, intermediate and a flex plate. The new parts were swapped in last week. I picked the truck up and on the way home trans starting hanging in 2nd, then if I got it to drive there was free pedal. Manually shifting back to 1st I could get 1st and 2nd again but 2nd was still hanging and no drive. If by chance I got drive it would act like it was slipping and I would end up with no drive. Fluid level was right up and clean.



I took it back and they said that the solenoid probably had some particle(s) in it so it would not read correctly. So I picked it up Friday afternoon and everything was great. It was very smooth shifting and wasn't as hot as it had been the day before. We went to the track to see what new times the truck would pull now that the hp was there and the trans was tuffened up. Never broke out of the 14's and that concerned me because the truck should be low 13's at least now with upgrades before the trans work was done.



On my way home Friday night it starts hanging in 2nd again and then no drive.



WTH!!! Any suggestions, ideas on what is going on with a truck that was always reliable now is undrivable?

Others who've had problems with their transmission not shifting properly have solved the problem by replacing the output shaft speed sensor. It's a relatively inexpensive part and simple to replace, so you might give that a try. BUT, I seem to recall that even when the output shaft speed sensor has failed, the transmission still could be manually shifted into any gear. It sounds like you can't even manually get your transmission into 3rd.
